Paul Baker doing some testing on a vintage line stage.

Some good old school test gear in use for square wave testing.

Top side view of the vintage line stage.

Another shot of the underside

Paul tells me that there was no heaters for the valves. I did think that the pre had a burnt out transformer.
Paul found that is was in fact a burnt out bridge rectifier which he has now replaced. I am thrilled to have
this pre amp fixed so I can use it again. It was built by a good friend from my past that has sadly gone
missing in action so it has some sentimental value to me. I love the sound of this old unit, the power supply
is a valve style B+ into a line stage using 5751 driver tubes into Mullard EL84 in triode mode. It has heaps of
drive and the hole in plate EL84 Mullards have a lovely sound as you leak owners already know.
Can't wait to get this going again.
Thank you again Paul for once more rescuing more of my Hi Fi Junk....Much appreciated  :)

Here is the pre in a system from years ago

Certainly, the el84 can be one musical sounding valve 8) 8), its the reason for the leak beater amp. It is great to get something we appreciate going again, looks like you will enjoy having it working again.
